The SACS research group: supporting arms control in space
Kostas Konstantinidis
Bundeswehr University Munich
Space weaponisation poses an increasing threat to the future use of space, driven by increased geopolitical tensions, the growing economic and military importance of space, as well as disruptive technological advances that make access to space easier. An arms control regime will be a critical tool to counteract this weaponisation and maintain space as a peaceful and open domain. The SACS (Supporting Arms Control in Space) Junior Research Group at Bundeswehr University Munich aims to support the development of such a hypothetical future arms control treaty for space armaments by using engineering and technical methods, such as from aerospace engineering, in interdisciplinary cooperation with approaches from international relations and the social sciences. We are furthermore looking to hire three PhD researchers (technical/engineering) and a post-doctoral researcher (international relations/space governance), so join this talk to learn more if interested!
